James is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Miami University. He is the author of Words upon the Word (NYU, 2009); Emerging Evangelicals (NYU, 2011); Anthropology of Religion: The Basics (Routledge, 2015); Ark Encounter: The Making of a Creationist Theme Park (NYU, 2018); and editor of The Social Life of Scriptures (Rutgers, 2009).

Claire Vaughn (Miami University '20) is an Anthropology major. She enjoys writing, blogging, and reading about cultural differences and the places people encounter. Materializing the Bible interests her because it explores a global phenomenon, and a desire people have to experience what they read in sacred scriptures.

Kaila Sansom (Miami University '18) is working toward her BA in Linguistics with minors in Spanish and Middle East/Islamic Studies. She has worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Cincinnati, Ohio. She enjoys traveling, learning new languages, reading, and playing with her dog, Jake. Her interest in Materializing the Bible stem from her interest in the holistic study of religion, including how people navigate and express their faith.
